Place Value and Face Value

Place value and Face value:

Face value is the actual value of the digit. It remains the same for the digit even when the position of the digit is changed

For Example;

In the number 1456, the "5" has a face value of 5.

and In the number 2576, the "5" has a face value of 5.

even when the digit 5 is at tens place in 1456 and the digit 5 is at hundreds place in 2576.

Now let us see the face value of the digits in the number 1284

Place Value is calculated as position of the digit  times its face value.

For Example:

In the number 1456, the "5" is at tens position so the place value will be 5 X10 = 50. So "5" has a place value of 50.

and In the number 2576, the "5" is at hundreds position so the place value will be 5 X100 = 500. So "5" has a place value of 500.

Now let us see the place value of the digits in the number 4545
